Peter & Christine Bertram are partners in Bertram Drafting Service, a small contract drafting business based in Eltham, in the north-eastern suburbs of Melbourne. The business has been operating since 1986 supplying contract & overload drafting requirements for small & medium sized engineering consultants throughout the metropolitan area.

Peter is currently working full time for Greg Schofield & Associates, in Glen Iris, on a PAYE basis and has been an employee there since 1985. Previous to this, he has worked in both staff and contract positions and has supplemented his income by making himself available to other consultants in the civil / structural fields on a part-time/after hours basis. He has also gained experience doing precast panel shop detailing.

Peter is able to meet in your office, on site or at a mutually convenient location to
discuss possible work. Jobs can be sent to him via fax, e-mail, post or courier & they can also be returned via similar means. They can also be directly picked up & dropped off upon completion by Peter or Christine.

Peter is currently quoting $65 per hour + GST (07/06) for the basic drafting of engineering documents, $75 to $120 (depending on detailing requirements) per panel for detailing of precast panel units ready for manufacture. He can also quote for a fixed price on a project if this may be of benefit to a prospective clients’ costing procedures.

Christine is definitely the busier of the two partners, having to juggle the expectations of their two children, Michael & Rebekah, having her own part time position with Shewan Cartwright - Accountants - Greensborough, & also doing all the office procedures, banking & some delivery of jobs for the drafting business. She can also offer assistance with any overload requirements for any typing, filing or administration that may be required by individuals or businesses.

The business has 2 Pentium 4 computers, a licensed copy of AutoCad 2007, a licensed copy of Struc-Plus, all set up at home complete with A3 bubble jet printer for check plots.  It has an on going relationship with Greg Schofield for the use of his A1 size plotter for any final plots required. Plotting of any sizes bigger can be arranged through a selected plotting bureau.
